Mr. Sage has a square plot of land divided into nine equal sections. He has daffodil bulbs that will flower in three different colors and wishes to separate them in his plot as shown. In total he has 15 yellow,
six white and six orange flowering bulbs. It is important to him that he does not have the same number of bulbs in any plots that are adjacent to each other and he also wants there to be the same number of bulbs in each row and column. How does he do this if the highest number of yellow bulbs is in the corner and the fewest in the right-hand column?

Imelda is moving house and has packed up her wardrobe. She has blue, green, black and brown shoes with a ratio of 1 to 2 to 4 to 5 pairs. She’s unpacking her wardrobe in a power cut at midnight. How many shoes must she unpack before she can be sure of having a pair?

Two clocks without any numerical time markings are fixed to the
wall side by side. The first one revolves in a clockwise direction
so that in one period of 12 hours it completes one revolution. The second clock moves counterclockwise at twice the rate of the first clock. They both start off showing identical displays at 12:00 noon. At what time will the clock displays next appear identical again?
